Hello and welcome to Dana’s Live Journal Experiment! For the few of you who are looking at this original entry, who get to be called “Alpha Testers” :), I’m going to post what this journal is about and how I’m going to set it up. Even if you have heard it before, read it, it’ll help you out.
Premise:
This is a private log kept by Shiyate, a young, telepathic tetra-winged cat-like creature from the planet Ega. You will be following the story of his up-bringing since the most important time in his life. Although you probably will not understand the significance of this event to its fullest extent, this will be explained as time goes on.
The real point of this journal is to explore and learn about Ega and Tanel in an interesting way and see if it will work.
Setup:
All of Shiyate’s diary entries are stored inside of his helmet (which he’s holding in this picture:
http://www.masterzdm.com/pa-052-shiyate-bonus.jpg). The helmet’s transceiver picks up his unique telepathic waves and records them when a signal wave is sent. Also, the helmet is connected to a special network that contains volumes and volumes of information, which can be accessed immediately if desired. I could keep going, but you don’t want to hear all this technical mumbo-jumbo now do you?
At first, the entries will be of Shiyate just getting used to this helmet and telling you about his surroundings. This is as new and strange to him as it is to you. Later on, Shiyate will use the previously mentioned network of information to sometimes add recent news articles and fact files to his journal entries. Usually he will comment on these data bits. I will devise a way to make it obvious which is a researched file and which are his opinions.
Updates:
There will be one to two updates every week, unless I say otherwise in a comment to the most recent post. As well, an explainitory post like this one will be put up and updated every 19 posts, so be sure to re-read it when that time comes!
Comments:
Comments are very welcome! You are testers for this experiment, and can comment on any “bugs” you find. You can ask about plot, something you are confused on, epiphanies, writing style, spelling errors…anything at all! However, I might not answer your question on purpose if it is going to give away too much of future storylines or if I want you to be confused. You can always ask your question later on :). Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions online via ICQ, AIM, or e-mail as well as in the comments section on the journal. You get brownie points for noticing cultural idiosyncrasies ;). The next time I do a post like this your questions may go into a FAQ, if you all have the same questions.
Note: Since I will be commenting in the comments field, you might want to read the latest comments!
That’s all I can think of for the moment, so sit back and enjoy what is to come!
